SWISS MEMORIAL

for the victims of National Socialism

Based on the Federal Council’s decision of April 26, 2023, Switzerland is creating a memorial for the victims of National Socialism. A memorial site is being established in Bern, the political center, as an expression of historical responsibility. The transnational Diepoldsau Education Center in the Rhine Valley of St. Gallen illustrates the history of refugees between 1933 and 1945 at the borders with neighboring Germany, Austria, France, Italy, and Liechtenstein. Furthermore, a network connects actors in research, education, and the Swiss culture of remembrance who examine the crimes of that era and their victims.
